The Spanish network of Mechanobiology has been created with the aim of fostering and keeping the collaboration between research groups through the exchange of students, ideas, inquisitiveness, and what is more, the sharing of methodologies and technologies.
Mechanobiology is a novel field of research that aims to understand how the mechanical properties of cells and tissues determine essential biological functions in health and disease.
Unraveling the interaction between mechanical and biological factors requires the convergence of cellular and molecular biology, biophysics and biomechanics, and the generation of new theoretical and computational models.
